  • Deliver customised learning experiences
  • Provide flexible, self-paced courses with structure modules and interactive courses
  • Track participant progress and engagement through comprehensive reporting and analytics

Key needs / Challenges

Timely software upgrades are critical to ensure ongoing security, bug fixes, performance improvements and long term efficiencies.

It was the strict security compliance requirements in particular that had Positive Partnerships looking to upgrade their Moodle Workplace version from 4.1 to 4.5.

It was important for the upgrade to happen in a timely manner and with zero or minimal disruptions to everyday operations.

Findings / Solutions

Some of the requirements identified in this upgrade process included:

  • Updating the custom branding / theme for compatibility with Moodle Workplace 4.5
  • Upgrade to the 18 third party plugins
  • Creating new CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments
  • Preserving any existing data

Results

By upgrading to Moodle Workplace 4.5 Positive Partnerships not only addressed current security requirements but also ensured their LMS was equipped with advanced features to protect user data and maintain a secure learning environment.

To the whole team who helped get this new version up and running for us, we really appreciate all the work that went into this, and the dedicated sessions each week to fine-tune the upgrade and manage any questions along the way.”

Craig Smith, Manager - Technology and Innovation, Positive Partnerships.

During the Deployment to Production process, we found that some enrollment data was not transferred across due to one unsupported plugin.

We were able to recover that data successfully and transfer it into the new Moodle Workplace instance.

Having performed quality assurance and testing, the Client is up and running with the Moodle Workplace 4.5 version and are able to enjoy the following:

  • New, improved features
  • Reduced risk – reduced system vulnerabilities and compliance with their updated security guidelines
  • Enhanced user experience – improved navigation, multimedia support, better assignment management and more
  • A smarter workplace learning LMS designed for better learner engagement.

Catalyst team have delivered the upgrade in a timely manner and with no disruptions to everyday operations.
